Cervical Cancer Screening Methods

Cytology (Pap Smear) alone has low sensitivity & specificity rates – as low
as 11% and 14% respectively —for detecting high-grade cervical disease.

Current HPV self-sampling kits still need additional screening to diagnose treatable
conditions

Cytology + HPV co-testing for high-grade cervical disease hasa 98% negative predictive value

Visual Inspection has a
21% false positive rate
and requires extensive
training & visual acuity of
the clinician

Digital colposcopy, even
with Al, remains.
suboptimal due to high
cost, advanced training,
and variability of results
